Autor: sustainability at the service of the customer

Index

The best energy—the greenest and most cost-effective—is the energy that is not consumed. For this reason, Autor has always placed the utmost focus on optimizing energy consumption: we are fully aware that an efficient machine delivers tangible benefits, both economically and environmentally.

Our customers know this as well. The manufacturing sector is increasingly oriented toward sustainability, and combining it with real cost savings represents a clear added value, positioning cooperation with Autor as a concrete step toward the future of industry.

Industry 5.0: measurable efficiency by Autor

This is why Autor has been actively involved in projects related to Industry 5.0 incentive programs. In these contexts, we have been able to translate the high energy efficiency of our machines into a real advantage for our customers—not only by supplying highly efficient equipment, but also by providing accurate energy consumption measurements.
These measurements were carried out in accordance with the principles of ISO 14955-2, and the results achieved are concrete data of which we are particularly proud.

The tests were performed on an AGM635 TOTAL CNC, a 6-spindle, 23-axis multispindle automatic lathe with bar capacity up to Ø35 mm, complete with lubrication and cooling systems, chip evacuation system with screw conveyor and scraper, and a pneumatic system for feeding, pressurization, and cooling.

Energy consumption was calculated considering:

  • active electrical energy, measured using a certified MID-compliant energy meter;
  • compressed air consumption, measured with a flow meter and converted into equivalent electrical energy based on the typical consumption of an industrial compressed air system.

The data speaks for itself: Autor, a sustainable product

The efficiency calculations delivered highly satisfactory results. The most energy-intensive phase—production—simulated through a program involving the simultaneous operation of all machine axes, allowed us to estimate a total measured consumption of just 10 kW, a particularly low value for a machine in this category.

As with any simulation, the process was modeled under defined conditions, and it is natural that energy consumption may vary depending on installed accessories, machining type, and processed material. Nevertheless, the data clearly highlights Autor and its machines as genuinely sustainability-oriented solutions.
These results confirm the robustness of our energy-efficient design—one of Autor’s defining features—ensuring full compliance with the energy reduction requirements of Industry 5.0 incentive programs. This translates into three key outcomes: easier access to incentives, reduced energy consumption, and a measurable return on investment.
